Biography
Film Director • Visual Documentation Expert • International Consultant
Mohanad Diab is an Egyptian film director with a distinctive humanitarian-development style. Over 15 years, he has dedicated his craft to documenting issues of women's empowerment, children's rights, disability inclusion, and sustainable development.
His portfolio spans over 150 documentary films, focusing on women who bear society's heaviest burdens — breadwinners, indebted women, and those in rural and marginalized environments. Through his lens, individual stories become universal models of strength and change.
He served as Visual Documentation Adviser to Egypt's Minister of Social Solidarity, transforming social protection files into powerful visual content presented at events including the COP27 Climate Summit. A collaborator with major United Nations organizations, his work has shaped how millions perceive development and women's roles in society.
Women's Dignity — Presenting women as protagonists of strength, not objects of pity, in every frame.
Children's Rights — Documenting alternative care, education, and protection for the most vulnerable children.
Disability Inclusion — Celebrating the full humanity and contribution of persons with disabilities.
Sustainable Development — Cinema as a tool of policy influence, community awareness, and lasting change.
They Said
Mohanad Diab represents the finest example of how art can serve as a genuine tool for social change. His films do not merely document reality — they reshape it, lifting voices that would otherwise remain unheard.
Through his camera, marginalized women become protagonists of their own stories — a shift that has measurable impact on public policy and community awareness across Egypt and beyond.
Diab has pioneered a new cinematic language for development — simple, human, and deeply effective. His methodology empowers the next generation of storytellers to speak truth with images.
His collaboration with the Ministry changed how millions of Egyptians perceive social protection programmes. The films he produced elevated government communication on women's empowerment to an art form.
